Bilingual dictionary-making seminar for fieldworkers
A three-week dictionary-making seminar began this week as part of SIL’s European Training Programme. Participants at this annual seminar are learning the basic principles and methods of making a bilingual dictionary. The focus is on designing a dictionary for a particular audience, gathering and organizing vocabulary data and using appropriate software to store and publish a dictionary.
Literacy and a public health project reduce malaria
A community literacy program is contributing to the success of a public health project in Burkina Faso to create a malaria-free zone. Of those receiving mosquito nets, 99% use them appropriately, resulting in an impressive decrease in malaria cases.
